Unfortunately I cannot recommend Hotchkiss. I had a noise on my car and they gave me a quote of $2.2k for front struts, tie rods, and engine mounts, which I had to decline (for a second estimate and to fly home for Thanksgiving). After declining and picking up my car, they emailed me a "waiver" later that night to sign (which I didn't) that mentioned front wheel bearing assemblies (NOT in original estimate), tie rods (NO struts), and engine mounts. Once I got home from the holiday, I took my car to Famous Auto Repair (the mechanic used by the business I bought my car from) and they agreed my front wheel bearing assemblies needed replacing ($500 total), but said the other things were fine (maybe not perfect, but not a "safety concern" as Hotchkiss said - I realize Hotchkiss's threshold for repair may be lower, but come on). This fixed the noise immediately. So, if I had agreed to Hotchkiss's initial estimate, I would have paid over 2 grand and not gotten my problem fixed. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because overall the workers were professional and the manager reached out afterwards to ask if I had any feedback, but I cannot recommend this shop if you want an honest and affordable assessment of what you need to get fixed to remedy an issue you're having (not just a laundry list of nice-to-haves).
